Sadie Hawkins
Syracuse University
An American tradition, the Sadie Hawkins Dance is a high school dance that happens once a year, when the gender roles are reversed and girls ask boys to be their dates to the dance. We asked contributing artists to submit work inspired by the theme of "ladies' choice" in this multimedia art exhibition.
The Sadie Hawkins' featured project was Prom Night by Celia Rowlson-Hall—a dance film following a young girl dancing all alone at her high school prom. Our gallery space was designed to mirror her prom's empty gymnasium setting.
